Chord switching bass tones on 6 string guitar?

ya know how when ya jump down to E minor sometimes ya go on ur Low E third fret than second to the E, it is a cool walk down well i chord for fiddle music cape breton celtic on guitar and instead of just switching the basic chords around i wanna make nice walk downs or walk ups like that in the timing of switching the chord if anyone knows what i mean please tell me.. it is in country and folk music alot too!
