Which carrier should I use?

I am getting my first phone. I am getting a blackberry. I am wondering which blackberry? bold? curve? torch? style? I also need to know which carrier? I live in ottawa, ontario. i heard virgin mobile and telus are good. but virgins phones are are outrageously priced. telus their plans are also quite pricey. My ex-gf has a blackberry with rogers. She likes it. So for a first time blackberry user which carrier and blackberrry???
